279 middle school students were recognized on February 20 for achieving honor roll during second quarter. The honors ceremony was held in the auditorium during first block.
The guest speaker at the ceremony was Ms. Xenia Rivas Quintanilla, who is a staff member at the middle school. Ms. Rivas Quintanilla shared her story about working through many challenges she's experienced in her life, including her experience as an immigrant to the United States, and how she learned to face whatever obstacles came her way and live a happy life with her family.
After the speech, 124 students received their certificates for the Superintendent's Honor Roll from Dr. McDade himself. Students need a GPA of 4.0 to qualify for this list. 148 students then received their certificates for the Principal's Honor Roll from Mr. Sieloff. Students need a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99 to qualify for this list.
After the ceremony, students were able to meet with their families and friends and celebrate with donuts.
