It’s officially SOL season, and we have some tips that may help you to prepare.

In The Days Before The Test

  • Be sure to study

    • You should study your notes and materials from your classes this year to help you prepare. For example, for the Math SOL, take a look at your notes from your math class.

  • Ask a family member to quiz you or you can quiz yourself

    • Use your notes and class materials to create questions that you can use to review and quiz yourself with. If someone at home is willing to help you, have them join in with quizzing you on the material.

  • The night before the test, make sure you get a good night’s sleep

    • You want to make sure you rest a lot so that you won’t be tired during the test.

The Day of The Test and While Testing

  • Be sure you eat breakfast the morning of the test

    • You want to make sure that your stomach won’t bother you during the test, so be sure to eat solid and good breakfast the morning of.

  • When taking the test, make sure you re-check your answers

    • When you get to the end of the test, go back and re-read the questions, passages or problems and make sure you answered each to the best of your ability.

  • While testing, take a minute break if needed

    • If you are starting to feel tired or overwhelmed, give yourself a break for a couple of minutes and try taking some deep breaths to help recenter yourself.
